A Year of Growth for the Lodge of Friendship No. 750 as Two New Brethren Begin Their Masonic Journey

The Brethren of the Lodge of Friendship No. 750 are delighted to celebrate a year of growth, having welcomed two new Initiates into the Lodge during 2026. Earlier this year, Bro. Adam McKay took his first steps in Freemasonry, followed more recently by the Initiation of Bro. Ross Hickey, making it two new members welcomed into the Lodge this year.

An Initiation is one of the most significant moments in a Freemason’s journey, marking the beginning of a lifelong path of friendship, learning, personal development, and service. Both ceremonies were memorable occasions, conducted with the warmth and dignity that have long characterised the Lodge of Friendship.

Adam’s Initiation carried a particularly personal significance, as he was sponsored into the Lodge by W. Bro. Terry Fairclough. Their friendship stretches back many years, with Terry having been Adam’s Cub Scout Leader. It is a wonderful example of how the values of guidance, mentorship, and community can endure over time, with a relationship first forged in Scouting now continuing within Freemasonry.

More recently, Bro. Ross Hickey was proudly sponsored into the Lodge by Bro. Charles Brown, who introduced him to Freemasonry and supported him as he embarked upon his own Masonic journey. Ross also brings with him a proud family connection to the Craft, with his grandfather having been a Freemason in Lancashire. It is especially meaningful to see another generation continuing a family tradition of Freemasonry while creating new friendships within the Lodge of Friendship.

The ceremonies were enjoyed by a strong attendance of Brethren, who joined together afterwards at the Festive Board to celebrate the occasions. As is customary, the evenings provided an opportunity for fellowship, conversation, and extending a warm welcome to our newest Brothers.

Welcoming two new Initiates in a single year is a positive milestone for the Lodge and reflects the continued strength and appeal of Freemasonry within our local community. It also demonstrates the importance of personal recommendation, with existing members introducing family members, friends, and those they know to be of good character into the Craft.

We congratulate Bro. Adam McKay and Bro. Ross Hickey on the beginning of their Masonic journeys and extend our sincere thanks to W. Bro. Terry Fairclough and Bro. Charles Brown for introducing two excellent candidates to the Lodge.

We wish Adam and Ross every success as they progress through the degrees and look forward to sharing many years of friendship, fellowship, and Freemasonry together.

Welcome to the Lodge of Friendship No. 750, Brothers Adam and Ross.
