A Special Thank You from Charlie and His Family

Three-year-old Charlie Bolt recently showed remarkable bravery after an accident while on holiday in Cyprus left him with burns. On returning home, Charlie was admitted to Airedale General Hospital in Keighley for treatment, where he was cared for with great kindness and professionalism.

During his stay, Charlie was given a Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) bear — a small gesture that made a huge difference. From the moment he received it, Charlie’s face lit up with a smile. The bear quickly became his constant companion, offering comfort and reassurance when he needed it most. Nick, Charlie’s dad, shared:

“Charlie was incredibly brave, but receiving the teddy really helped to calm him down and put a smile back on his face. Since then, he’s taken it to bed every night. It’s amazing how something so simple can mean so much in a difficult moment.”

Charlie’s accident happened when he climbed onto a hot plate at home that had been accidentally switched on while his dad was unpacking shopping. Despite the painful injury and the shock of the situation, Charlie’s spirits were lifted by the kindness shown to him in hospital.

Nick and his family wanted to share their heartfelt thanks with everyone involved in the TLC initiative. They are happy for Charlie’s story and photo to be shared, so others can see the comfort and reassurance that a TLC bear can bring to young patients in times of need.

From all of Charlie’s family: thank you for making such a difference.
